Polish studio CD Projekt RED has just begun active production of the next part of the popular gaming saga The Witcher. The project is obviously still far from release, but the Internet has already been flooded with intriguing details of the game, thanks to an extensive interview with game director Sebastian Kalemba. The key developer of the new Witcher, in a recent conversation with journalists, admitted the return of the main character of the original trilogy, Geralt of Rivia.
Whether Geralt will once again become the main character of The Witcher remains a mystery. But CD Projekt RED management is clearly seriously thinking about introducing this character into the main plot of the new game. The new large-scale RPG is reportedly being created with a focus on new audiences, but the developers are not going to forget about old fans of the franchise and the original characters. Along with Geralt, other famous heroes from previous installments may also take part in the events of the new game. Kalemb quite hinted at this in his last interview with journalists, separately noting that the game is at an early stage of development and a lot can change.
Half of the employees of CD Projekt RED’s gaming division are working on the next The Witcher. The game isn’t expected to be a reboot of the franchise, which peaked with 2015’s The Witcher 3, but could still serve as an introduction to potential fans by offering a truly “special” role-playing game.
