Lightyear specializes in solar-powered electric cars. Their first production model Light year one is already on sale, but it turned out to be too expensive: it costs from 250,000 euros. Therefore, it will be released in a limited series of 946 cars, and they set out to create a more affordable electric car.
The first teasers show that the new Lightyear 2 is a D-class liftback with an aerodynamic design. The sloping roof, aerodynamically optimized sidewalls and wheels with special hub caps made it possible to achieve a record drag coefficient of 0.175.

The roof and hood of the Lightyear 2 are covered in solar panels. On a clear day, they provide up to 70km of power reserve. In urban use, this is more than sufficient for everyday driving, which means that the battery cannot be recharged.
The recharge will have to be used in gloomy weather conditions or on long journeys. In this case, the range will be 800 km.
