Today is the 226th day since the beginning of the longest coalition talks in the country’s history, thus breaking the previous record set four years ago. But the end of the talks is not yet visible. Four parties are involved in negotiations on maintaining the current coalition led by Prime Minister Mark Rite.
However, the world record in the duration of the coalition negotiations still belongs to the Netherlands’ neighboring country Belgium, where negotiations on the formation of a new government in 2010 and 2011 lasted a year and a half or 541 days.
