The researchers of the university of Amsterdam have identified two proteins that are promising in the treatment of coronavirus.
These antibodies come from the blood of patients who have been cured of the Covid-19. The researchers of the UMC of Amsterdam have isolated two antibodies, the most powerful. The results were published Monday in the journal Science. “These new antibodies are a hundred times more powerful”, according to the head of research, Dr Marit van Gils. “We have tested all of the antibodies present in the blood in the laboratory and isolated the variants more powerful.” The next step is to begin to produce these powerful antibodies on a large scale.
Before that the antibody cocktail can be produced on a large scale, its safety must be demonstrated. This is done first on laboratory animals. Mr. Van Gils is hoped that the tests will start at the beginning of the next year.
