At the same time, the incidence of coronavirus has been increasing in the Netherlands over the past few weeks, as in many other European countries. Since the beginning of the pandemic in the Netherlands, 2.24 million cases of COVID-19 infection have been identified, about 18.6 thousand of them were fatal.
In turn, the leadership of a number of hospitals in the province of Limburg in the southern part of the Netherlands sent a letter to the government calling for new measures to contain the increase in the incidence of COVID-19 in order to avoid overloading the healthcare system. Doctors urged to immediately begin inoculating vulnerable groups of the population with the third dose of vaccines.
