Christmas has arrived to rejoice our lives, even in this 2020 of challenging events for humanity, and in Cartagena its beginning is marked, as is traditional, by the lighting of the lights of the tree and the manger that the Aspaen school makes in the roundabout from the Bocagrande pedestrian walkway.

This year, due to the pandemic, there was not the colorful parade of the students, nor the large public that year after year congregates to enjoy the event, but there is a tree, there are lights, there are Christmas carols and of course there is life and hope; That is why the reception of this time in which we Christians celebrate the light of the world represented in the birth of Jesus must be in a big way: with happiness, with a smile and with the strengthening of the spirit of resilience that characterizes us human beings . The Christmas Mar Adentro event has a greater meaning in 2020, reminding us that we are still here, standing, in the fight against a lethal virus, which we cannot see and which has decimated us, but which we will defeat together with courage, following the measures of biosafety recommended by health authorities and with the effort and support of those who work on vaccines and their distribution in all corners of the planet. Today we welcome Christmas from home with someone else. also, of a Christmas concert that the students and teachers of the national network of Aspaen schools gave. The lighting of the lights was presided over that day by the “Route of Gratitude”, a tour carried out by Mar Adentro and Cartagena, with the support of the National Navy in order to collect aid for the victims of Hurricane Iota. From 2:00 in the afternoon, three trucks circulated through Bocagrande, Castillogrande, El Laguito, Manga, Pie de la Popa, Marbella and Crespo collecting donations for those most affected in this rainy season.
