Over the weekend, the Lithuanian Adult Individual Action Championship took place in Vilnius. 60 men and 60 women came to the final competition, including three from Gargždi.
Lijana Jakaitė won the women’s competition. In the weight category up to 71 kg, she lifted 89 kg in the deadlift, lifted 110 kg in the push and pulled 199 kg in the duel. Lijana climbed the first place three times, and in the overall standings she became the absolute winner of the Lithuanian championship. According to coach Edvards Shauklis, the athlete is serious about the World Championship, which will be held from December 6 to 16 in Colombia.
Among the men, the young Nojus Brazdeikis from Gargždi surprised. After improving his personal records, in the weight category up to 67 kg, the athlete climbed the second place winner’s step three times, snatched the bar weighing 79 kg, lifted 91 kg in the push action and collected 170 kg in the duel. This result brought him the title of runner-up for the first time in such a high-ranking competition.
Fifth place in the weight category up to 109 kg was won by Giedrius Lukauskas, who was prevented from showing a better result by a cold.
The weightlifters will have their next competition on December 17. Klaipėda. As many as 15 athletes from Gargžda are preparing to participate in the Lithuanian senior championship.
