Five shopping centers are therefore finally closed in Deux-Sèvres and Vienne. The prefectures of the two departments made it official this Monday, February 1, after a lot of vagueness and contradictory information following statements by Jean Castex at the end of last week. The Prime Minister announced the closure of shopping centers of more than 20,000 m² to fight against the spread of the coronavirus epidemic.
In Deux-Sèvres, the shopping center of Giant-Chauray and that of Leclerc Niort-Mendès-France are therefore well concerned. Be careful in these areas, supermarkets, specialized food stores such as bakeries or pharmacies can remain open.
A feeling of injustice
But for the other shops, it is the cold shower. At Eric Morin’s hairdressing salon, the iron curtain was half down on Tuesday morning, a poster indicates the closing until further notice. It took cancel all appointments. “We have a feeling of injustice. We have to put rules I can understand, but here we have nevertheless made an investment of 10,000 euros to respond to health measures and we are condemned to close”, deplores the independent hairdresser who employs 13 people.
For the same businesses, there are closed and open ones
“We are at a loss. We have our job in our guts. It’s already not easy for some time and we see no way out, we close, we open”, drops tears in Christelle Denis’ eyes. She runs the Carnaby clothing store and is looking for dispatcher its clothes on sale in the brand’s other boutiques in Thouars and Bressuire, which they remain open. “For the same businesses, there are closed and open ones”. She learned of the gallery’s closure on Monday evening through social media. “Not to have been warned, it’s something very shocking anyway”.
It’s for a good reason I guess
In front of the iron curtain of the clothing store, this client is surprised to see the shop closed. “How do we do it? It’s a small store. There is hydroalcoholic gel, we limit the number of people who can come in and that’s it. I don’t understand”. Said is him more understanding. “It’s for a good reason I imagine so I tend to agree even if this morning I have a bit of a problem because I came to buy a TV. But we were able to arrange”.
The store specializing in second-hand Happycash has indicated email and phone number to stay in touch with its customers, pending. “The reopening for the moment we have no information. We live from day to day”, reacts the manager Mathieu Filippi. It did not think that the Leclerc gallery would be concerned. “It is not necessarily 20,000 m². By looking well we can find them with the offices, the reserves. The prefecture has found them we will not enter into this debate but there are stores where people are clustered so why we? There are laws, we respect them but it’s frustrating “.
The Ministry of the Economy specifies that closed shops will benefit from support measures, in particular the reinforced solidarity fund.
