The Health Service (Dinkes) reports that the number of malaria cases in Pematangsiantar Town has decreased by 50 percent. This number was recorded in the last two years.
Health epidemiologist from the Health Office, Domen Silalahi, said that from the number of cases detected there were no deaths. He ensured that the Department of Health always provided medicine.
It is said that there will be 38 cases of malaria in Pematangsiantar Town in 2023. Meanwhile, between January and September 2024, 19 cases were recorded.
Domen emphasized that the spread of malaria is not a big problem and can be treated well in Sapangambei Manoktok Hitei Village. The average number of infected people comes from people who do not live in Pematangsiantar Town.

“On average, those who are infected come from visiting endemic areas,” he said when it was confirmed, Monday (21/10/24).
The Department of Health, following Domen, continues to make efforts to suppress malaria cases. This includes carrying out investigations, finding potential (screening), diagnosis and treatment.
“Everything that has been handled so far (in his case) has been included. We have not found the Anopheles mosquito which is the malaria vector. We hope we can maintain it,” he said.
As is known, malaria is transmitted through the bite of female Anopheles mosquitoes that are infected with parasites. Mosquito bites cause parasites to enter, settle in the liver and affect red blood cells. (ions/hm20)
