The draw revealed that the one placed with number 24 and released from the first round Alon Ostapenko (WTA 25th) will start against Latvia’s neighbor – Estonian Kaija Kanepa (WTA 51st) or Aleksandras Sasnovich (WTA 44th). If she manages to get to the third round, she will most likely face the Czech Petra Kvitova (WTA 15th).
Making it to the second round is worth $30,885 in prize money and 35 ranking points. Ostapenko only had to defend 10 points in March.

In Indian Wells, 28 of the “top 30” tennis players, including all 18 of the nominally strongest, will start on the hard surface. Ostapenko will participate in the main tournaments of the North American Spring Series: Indian Wells “WTA 1000” and Miami “WTA 1000”.

The second “WTA 1000” main tournament of the year will take place on 8-19 in March. Our tennis player will probably have her first match on Thursday or Friday.
Latvian-Ukrainian tandem Alyona Ostapenko and Ludmila Kičenok will also compete in Indian Wells doubles.
