In the old town center of Florensac (Hérault), it is an incessant parade of heavy goods vehicles which take the Departmental 32 to save on fuel or toll on the nearby A9 motorway. This small departmental is considered a kind of road shortcut between Mèze, Pézenas and Agde. This shorter route is signposted by vehicle guidance systems.
So, on working days, an average of more than 300 trucks cross the town daily where they struggle to cross paths in a climate of exasperation and multiple clashes. Worse still, the town hall has launched work for the next six months on the main street, forcing truckers to slalom between the subdivisions.
“It has become unbearable and even dangerous. We need to find a solution quickly with the prefecture and professional organizations. I want to obtain the ban for heavy goods vehicles in transit which have nothing to do in Florensac. And at the same time, we will liberate the villages of Pomerols and Saint-Thibéry which are also concerned by the development of this traffic ”, thunders Vincent Gaudy, the mayor of Florensac who is still looking for the“ vaccine ”.
He promises continuous verbalizations via the municipal police officers of the trucks which are simply in transit… as soon as he obtains the ban. Because in the specific case of Florensac, it is unthinkable to consider bypassing the village heavy goods vehicles because of the proximity of the Hérault and a flood plain on the immediate periphery.
