In the Hauts-d’Anjou, an eco-rural health center acquired through a hard fight

Difficult to group together and attract health professionals in sparsely populated areas like Haut-Anjou. Building a medical center was the solution found by Maryline Lézé, president of the Haut-Anjou community of municipalities, to unite them. But, some elected officials and the prefecture were difficult to convince for this project, which was meant to be ecological.

Building a nursing home in a rural area? A real need for the Haut Anjou territory. “It all started when Christine Tisné, general practitioner, came to see me. With other doctors, she had set up an association to create a medical center, ”explains Maryline Lézé, mayor of the new town of Les Hauts-d’Anjou. The elected representative sees this project as an opportunity to revitalize the territory. The population is aging there and it takes 30 minutes by car to reach the nearest health center.
