Marina Polbentseva has come a long way from the circus to the orchestra.
In the late 1990s, TV channels often broadcast advertisements for the famous Kalve mayonnaise brand. The hero of the video explained that he is a famous chef and a connoisseur of Russian cuisine. An elderly woman revolved around him, whom she occasionally reminded herself of.
“All I can do is thank my mother” – the character timidly admitted.
In the end, she persistently wiped the sauce off the corner of his mouth, repeating once again in a reproachful tone: “Vovochka”. These roles were played by the actors Vladimir Sterzhakov and Marina Polbentseva. At that time, there was not a lot of work in the theater and cinema, so the stars agreed to shoot in commercials. And, although Polbentseva only said two words for the video, she was able to make such an insignificant role integral too.
The public of the 90s no longer remembered what beauty the “chef’s mother” was in her youth. After graduating from college, she Marina she became a circus artist, from where she a few years later she entered the theater of miniatures and later into the cinema. She starred in the 1962 comedy Cheryomushki she brought her fame.
A frail blonde with a constant smile was nicknamed the Russian Gina Lollobrigida. Polbentseva actively toured until the 1970s, after which she performed with Leonid Utesov’s orchestra and then with Mosconcert. From the stage, the artist told satirical monologues, demonstrating her comic talent.
