Near the photovoltaic farm of Saint-Côme-et-Maruéjols, the Hérault company wants to launch several projects that meet current and future energy challenges.
The Arkolia company from Hérault, which specializes in renewable energies, has found in the Gard a land of choice to launch its projects. We are thinking here of the photovoltaic farm of Saint-Come-et-Maruejols next to which the general manager Jean-Sébastien Bessière wants to concretize several files.
There is first of all that of the installation of electricity storage batteries in order to deliver, later in the day, at the time of the peak of household consumption, this solar energy “produced more in the morning and at noon, not necessarily when people need it most. It is a question of storing on a small scale to better manage the use of this green energy“summarizes the CEO of Arkolia.
The company is counting on the so-called “sandbox” call for tenders to unlock its pilot biomethanation experimentation project, i.e. to use the “Power to gas” system, electricity to produce green gas. The latter which could then be injected into the Fos/Alès gas pipeline located near the photovoltaic farm.
For now, outlets for this green methane are expected. Private investors should also be found. This biomethanation project, which is undergoing laboratory tests, could perhaps begin to unblock after 2023.
150 employees
Arkolia is thus setting up in Gard with photovoltaic installations in equestrian centers and with farmers: “When we started in 2011, we were taken for huluberlus. Today, the trend has reversed and we are established almost everywhere in France “, notes Jean-Sébastien Bessière who does not forget the other founder of Arkolia, Laurent Bonhomme, who died last June. Arkolia, which has 150 employees, has thus created its place in the sun thanks to its many projects.
Expected administrative simplification
During this presidential campaign, there was little mention of environmental issues. Attention has focused more on soaring energy prices.
Arkolia has not waited these last few months to embark on the adventure of renewable energies and believes in the energy mix, in decarbonization. “But it would take a shock of administrative simplification. To develop a project, it’s long and tedious. And yet, there is an urgency to act according to the IPCC report”says Jean-Sébastien Bessière, aware of the challenges of combating global warming.
