In the gallery «Look!» will open the solo exhibition of the artist Veronika Frolova / Article / LSM.lv

Thursday, Sept. 10, at 7 p.m., at the Look! Gallery Veronika Frolova’s solo exhibition “Foreign Body” will be opened in Riga, the gallery representatives informed.

“Has man become a foreign body in the natural scene? The works in the exhibition reflect the human connection with other species and nature in general. Is there a significant, qualitative difference between us and other life forms? In our development process, we have created many substances that are difficult to break down in nature: from plastics to the structures of our minds. The idea of man as the crown of creation is deeply etched in our consciousness and culture, but is its influence beneficial? How would our behavior change if we felt like, not superior, as a natural product, not its ruler? ” stated in the exhibition application.

The artist emphasizes that everyone is invited to find their own personal answers to these questions, but it is important to ask them.

One of the oldest art materials – coal – has been used to create the works. “The abstract fragments of the body depicted in them are mystical and ambiguous. The flexible outlines of natural forms contrast with geometric elements, creating a multi-layered message in warning colors, ”the gallery notes.

The exhibition will be open from September 10 to October 3 in the gallery “Look!” (Gertrudes Street 62).
