Farmers hired people to work, but they settled them in barracks and paid only part of the promised money.

In the Dnepropetrovsk region, 60 people were freed from labor slavery. About it informs Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine on Monday, September 20.

Farmers owned 500 hectares of land in the Petrikovsky and Magdalinovsky districts of the Dnipropetrovsk region. To cultivate the fields and harvest vegetables, they offered the workers a decent salary, but in the end the people were settled in barracks and paid only part of the promised money.

The police detained three organizers of the “scheme” 64, 50 and 40 years old. The day before, searches were carried out at their places of residence, work and in their cars – weapons, cartridges, workers’ passports, documentation, bank cards, money and three cars were seized. At the time of the investigative measures, there were 60 people in the barracks who were subjected to labor exploitation.

The detainees were informed of the suspicion under the article on human trafficking. Measures are being taken to establish the whereabouts and detention of two more people involved in human trafficking. The perpetrators face imprisonment for a term of eight to fifteen years with or without confiscation of property.

Recall that earlier in Volyn, a pensioner kept three men in labor slavery… After the men agreed to work for the pensioner, she took them to the utility rooms, took the documents and put them in the barn.

It was also reported that in the Dnipropetrovsk region, an agricultural company kept 120 people in slavery… Workers were recruited to work in the production and storage facilities of the agricultural firm, as well as in the fields for harvesting during the season. They were forced to work 12-16 hours a day.
