“Lucien and Monique are a bit like our grandparents, we don’t want to keep them as long as possible. “
Alain Privay loves his two octogenarian neighbors so much that, when the confinement was announced, he immediately had an idea: to make them eat so that they did not have to leave their homes. So he went to share his idea with two other neighbors, Patrice and Pascal who, like him, love to cook. Pascal is also a caterer by trade. With confinement, he saw his activity suddenly stop. He therefore transferred his passion for cooking to Monique Wankin and Lucien Huron.

“I established a sheet, on which we marked the menu that we were going to make them. We didn’t want them to eat only potatoes and noodles, “says Alain, who aimed to provide his neighbors with” healthy and varied “food.

From March 17 to May 11, therefore, Alain, Patrice and Pascal took turns preparing one of their specialties. A mission that has never been a chore, on the contrary. He explains :
“I love to cook, even more when it’s shared. Instead of making it for two, we made it for four, sometimes for six or eight, and froze it. Right now, with my wife, we are eating dishes that I had prepared during confinement! “

In addition to bringing them lunch every day, the neighbors kept a close watch on their elders. “We didn’t want anything to happen to them. For two months, they were “kept in check”. When Monique went for a walk, we scolded her gently, ”explains Alain with a laugh.
” It comes from the heart “
To encourage them not to leave their home, Pascal, for his part, did the shopping once a week. None of this display of solidarity was an effort. “It comes from the heart,” he sums up.

Since the containment was lifted, life gradually resumed its course in this residential area of La Madeleine. “Lucien decided, in agreement with Monique, that from May 11, we stopped everything. We told them, “We want to, but you protect yourself: you put on a mask when you go out and you don’t go to stores if you don’t need it.” Explains Alain with a burst of laughter.
