The number of crimes in the Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald district fell in 2021. At the same time, the police clearance rate increased. There was an increase in offenses against sexual self-determination and violations of the Narcotics Act.
Overall, the citizens of the district could live safely, explained police chief Franz Semling when presenting the crime statistics for 2021. Two crystal-clear trends in particular speak in favor of this: the significant decrease in crimes committed in public spaces and at the same time the increase in the proportion of cases solved by the police.
