After twelve days of conflict in Ukraine, several cities are mobilized to welcoming Ukrainian refugees who arrive in France and in our department. This is the case of Longvic where the municipality decided in municipal council to identify the housing of the municipality to make them available if necessary. “We are only waiting for a phone call from the prefecture to open one of its accommodations” confirms Anne Gutierrez-Vigreux, third deputy mayor. The one that was selected is the artists’ house, accommodation generally used for artist residencies, “where everything is ready, there is electricity, heating, a garden” specifies the elected official. “A family could settle there as soon as possible.”
“Longvic is a city with a tradition of hospitality” – Anne Gutierrez-Vigreux, third deputy mayor.
In the meantime, the municipality has also launched a call to long-viciens to welcome refugees. A call to which Dimitri responded spontaneously. This 37-year-old Franco-Ukrainian didn’t hesitate for long, “It was natural for me to propose, because it’s the country where I was born and it gave me a lot.”
The town hall has also set up an urn to collect donations, an urn present in the reception hall of the building. The amount collected will be donated in full to the Red Cross of Côte-d’Or.
