In the contest of the Scrooge of Italy the Del Vecchio heirs win

The Del Vecchio heirs, the Bertelli-Prada spouses and the Rocca family are the richest Italians on the stock market. This is what emerges from the traditional ranking drawn up on August 15th by Milano Finanza, which brings together the 628 men and women with the largest stocks in the Milanese list and the Italians with significant stakes in companies listed abroad. The family of Luxottica’s owner, who recently passed away, counts on assets of € 28.4 billion, which is worth the first place in the ranking. Each heir has 3.6 billion, which would still be enough to occupy the twelfth place in the ranking, just above the 3.3 billion of Francesco Gaetano Caltagirone.

After the Del Vecchio family, the second place is occupied by Patrizio Bertelli and Miuccia Prada, at the head of the homonymous fashion house whose title trades on the Hong Kong stock exchange. The equity holdings of the two fashion crooks amounted to 11.5 billion. To find the first Italians with stakes only in Italy, it is necessary to go down to the third step of the podium, where the Rocca, Gianfelice and Paolo, owners of Tenaris appear, which thanks to the crude oil rush saw a revaluation of 50% in Piazza Affari since the outbreak of the war in Ukraine. The share wealth of the Rocca brothers thus jumped to 9.4 billion. A similar fate to that of the Benettons in fourth place at 8.6 billion. The Agnelli-Elkann fifths with 8.4 billion. From next year the heirs of Gianni Agnelli will strengthen the ranks of the Italian Scrooge with prevalent holdings in foreign stock exchanges by virtue of the move of Exor to the Amsterdam Stock Exchange (quotations started yesterday). In sixth position the Garavoglias, at the head of Campari (8.1 billion). In seventh place (an improvement of three positions) Nicola and Paolo Bulgari, with their € 7.6 billion from the French giant LVMH, and in eighth place Stefano Pessina, head of the American multinational health and wellness Walgreens Boots Alliance, with 5.6 billion. The top ten is closed by Gustavo Denegri di Diasorin (4.3 billion) in ninth position and Piero Ferrari (4.2 billion), the latest heir of the Maranello car manufacturer, in tenth position.

MF-Milano Finanza also calculated the equity wealth of the Italian Treasury and large foreign institutional investors, as well as that of banking foundations. The Italian state, with 49 billion, remains the largest shareholder of Piazza Affari, albeit down from 56 billion last year. It is interesting to note that the equity investments of Cassa Depositi e Prestiti saw their value increase from 27.8 to 28.2 billion, thanks above all to the stakes in Eni and Terna. The Ministry of Economy and Finance (Mef), on the other hand, was impoverished by more than 7 billion, penalized by the drop in Enel’s stock market and by the crash of Mps. On the other hand, foreign funds were stronger, the share of which rose for the second consecutive year, reaching over 45 billion. In the lead there is always Norges Bank, the Norwegian sovereign fund, with 149 holdings worth over 8 billion.
