It’s a very small world that comes back to life in the Old Port of Marseille every year. The three wise men, the miller, the shepherd, the boules players, the crib parade on the stands of the santons fair. “Every year, we come to see. It makes children’s eyes shine”; “It’s a lot of work and a whole history of local craftsmanship”, confide these visitors. It is an institution in Marseille where regulars but also tourists come to rediscover Provencal culture through the artisanal work of santonniers. They are also dear places that walkers remember. “It makes it possible to complete the crib, to make a set when you have the passion to respect this ancestral tradition”, confides this santonnier. The tradition is passed on in the family and continues. The big ones fall back into childhood and the little ones are passionate about this magical miniature universe. It takes between four and twenty euros for a santon depending on its size. But in Provence, this tradition is priceless during the holidays. TF1 | Report P. Lefrançois, HP Amar
