In the aftermath of the Austrian MotoGP Horror Accident, Zarco is Officially Sentenced

KOMPAS.com – Rider Reale Avintia Racing, Johann Zarco, officially sentenced after being involved in an accident on MotoGP Austria last week.

A horror accident occurs during a race MotoGP Austria which was held at the Red Bull Ring Circuit, Sunday (16/8/2020).

Johann Zarco and Franco Morbidelli (Petronas Yamaha SRT) collided on the ninth lap, before the Red Bull Ring Three Circuit Bend.

The collision knocked Zarco and Morbidelli off their feet, while their motorbikes were still traveling in different directions at high speed.

The accident also made the Monster Energy Yamaha duo, Maverick Vinales and Valentino Rossi, almost hurt.

Zarco and Morbidelli’s bikes took off and almost hit the two team-mates as they exited Round Three.

Johann Zarco was cited as the main cause of the accident because in reruns he seemed to close down racing line Morbidelli who was about to overtake by directing the motorbike to the right.

MotoGP Stewards finally sentenced Johann Zarco on Friday (21/8/2020) afternoon WIB.

They decided Zarco would receive a penalty, namely starting from the pitlane.

“After being evaluated, it was decided that there was evidence of an irresponsible action by Johann Zarco that resulted in a penalty,” Steward wrote as quoted from the official MotoGP website.
