In ten months, Latvian accommodation establishments received 64.5% more guests than a year ago / Article

In October 2022, 178,000 foreign and local guests were served in Latvian tourist accommodation, 65.2% more than in October 2021. Guests spent 325,600 overnight stays in accommodation establishments, 61.4% more compared to October last year.

In October 2022, 56.3% or 100.2 thousand of all guests served in hospitality establishments were foreign guests, which is 93.2% more than last year.

The number of overnight stays of foreign guests, compared to October last year, increased by 97.9% and amounted to 193.4 thousand. The average stay of foreign guests was 1.9 nights.

The largest number of foreign guests was received by Lithuania (15.8 thousand), Estonia (13.2 thousand), Germany (8.3 thousand), United Kingdom (6.8 thousand), Finland (6.7 thousand) , Norway (4 thousand), Ukraine (4 thousand). thousands) and Poland (3.9 thousands).

Of the foreign guests, 32.3% or 32.3 thousand were from neighboring countries: Lithuania (15.8%), Estonia (13.2%), Russia (2.2%) and Belarus (1.1%) .

Most of the foreign guests were received in Riga – 77.8%, Jurmala – 5.6%, Mārupe county – 4.5%, Liepāja – 2.3% and Sigulda county – 1.8%.

In October 2022, 77.8 thousand Latvian residents were served in tourist accommodation, which is 39.2% more than in October 2021. The number of overnight stays of residents was 132.2 thousand, and increased by 27, 1% compared to October last year.

The most popular places to stay for Latvian residents were Riga where 29.5% of guests stayed, Jurmala – 13.3%, Liepāja – 7.1%, Sigulda district – 5.4%, Cēsu – 4.5%, Daugavpils – 3.4% and in Valmiera County – 2.8%.
