The explosions occurred near the Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2 pipelines in the Swedish Economic Zone, causing significant damage to the pipelines. He states this in a press release published on Thursday 6 October by the Swedish Public Security Service (SÄPO).
“A crime scene investigation revealed that explosions occurred near the Nord Stream 1 and 2 gas pipelines in the Swedish economic zone, causing significant damage to the pipelines,” SÄPO said.
It should be noted that during the investigation some materials were seized at the crime scene.
“As part of this work, the seized materials will be processed and examined. Further investigation will show if anyone can be suspected and then prosecuted for this crime,” added SÄPO.
In connection with the completion of the inspection of the crime scene, the prosecutor made it possible to remove the fence of the place.
Call back last week underwater explosions damaged the Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2 pipelines in four locations off the coast of Sweden and Denmark, and caused huge methane losses in the international waters of the Baltic Sea.
Danish authorities said over the weekend that the methane leak in the Nord Stream pipelines had stopped, however the Swedish Coast Guard said on Monday that a minor leak in Nord Stream 2 increased and is about 30 meters in diameter.
