“How many meters are we from the hospital? Not even 50 meters away and look at that green thing,” Aldo Dávila refers to a pool of still water located in the backyard of the Escuintla Hospital. Dávila accompanied the Minister of Health and his entire team to an inspection that the ministry carried out in the building.
In the video that Dávila published on his X account, he details that fortunately the Minister of Health is supervising that hospital first-hand.
“Escuintleco, do you think you deserve a hospital in these conditions? Fortunately, the Minister of Health is here today and came to see this first-hand, the person incapable of Coma (Francisco Coma, Vice Minister of Hospitals of the Ministry of Health) never came,” Dávila argued.
At the inspection meeting are the directors of that hospital, who argue that at the beginning of the year they are still being financed and that they have some limitations.
“Look, director, you have been here for three years. “The fact that you were six months old (…) is that we come and every time it’s the same nonsense,” says a person from the supervision team.
REAFFIRMS COMMITMENT
For his part, Minister Oscar Cordón, after his visit to the Escuintla Hospital, reaffirmed his commitment to reactivate the Hospital Management Committees. In these instances, authorities, civil society, unions and patient associations will meet to be accountable and ensure quality care.
