In St. Petersburg, the ship collided with the cruiser Aurora. The captain of the boat fled the scene, but was later detained by law enforcement officers.
The incident was reported late in the evening on August 9 by the press service of the transport department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation for the North-West Federal District.
“Today, at around 22:40, the St. Petersburg of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for water transport a message that a ship in the waters of the Neva collided with the cruiser Aurora,” – the statement says.
According to preliminary information, the captain lost control and the small vessel hit the chain securing the vessel’s anchor barrels.
It comes from the police report that no one was injured as a result of the incident, that there was no oil spill, and that no damage was found.
The boatmaster who was responsible for the accident fled the scene, but water police recognized him quickly. He turned out to be a 45-year-old local resident.
“The attacker was transported to the St. Petersburg Regional Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia by water transport for further investigation,” – reported the news service.
Currently, transport police officers are investigating this fact and are establishing all the circumstances of the incident.
