In Spain, on January 25, it was recorded up to +30°C

Temperatures in many regions of Spain rose above +20°C on January 25 due to a mass of hot air, leading to unusually warm weather for this month of the year.

This is reported by “European Truth” with reference to AFP.

Temperatures reached or exceeded 20 degrees Celsius at almost 400 meteorological stations in Spain, that is, almost half of all weather stations in the country.

Among other things, the thermometer rose to +29.5°C in Valencia, +28.5°C in Murcia and +27.8°C near Malaga. Such temperatures in Spain are usually observed in June.

Night temperatures were also above normal. The mercury column did not drop until just a little below +10°C in the small ski resort of Puerto de Navacerrada near Madrid, located at an altitude of 1,900 meters above sea level.

David Corell, a researcher at the University of Valencia, said the heat wave was caused by the presence of a powerful anticyclone over the Mediterranean Sea.

“So far, there are no studies that assess the long-term trend of this type of event, but it is clear that we will face such anomalous situations more and more often,” he told AFP.

The heat comes to Spain in the background prolonged droughtwhich covered most of the country, especially the northeastern region of Catalonia and the southwestern region of Andalusia.
