Both viral diseases cause shortness of breath in humans, because both affect the upper respiratory tract.
In Catalonia, the first cases of flurona were discovered – infection with both influenza and coronavirus. Cases of infection were confirmed by the director of the Catalan health service Gemma Kreivinkel, reports Euro Weekly News.
According to the Ministry of Health, the cases are “mild”.
“These are isolated cases. This is not the norm, and so far we are talking about a mild course,” said Kreivinkel and recalled that ordinary diseases can combine several viruses.
It is noted that both viruses cause shortness of breath, because both affect the upper respiratory tract.
Flurona – a combination of the words flu (flue in English – ed.) And crown, was first discovered in Israel in a pregnant woman who has been infected with both viruses at the same time. All her symptoms were mild.
Flurona is not a new strain of coronavirus like Omicron and Delta. Although, until now, there have been no known cases of infection when patients had either one virus or another.
In Spain, about 90% of the adult population is fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
Recall that the Ministry of Health expects an increase in the level of COVID-19 infections… Coronavirus outbreaks reported in Europe reach Ukraine one to two months after they peak there, Chief State Sanitary Doctor Igor Kuzin said.
