Representing LETA, one of the largest retail chains in the Baltics, Rimi Baltic, has decided to suspend trade in goods manufactured in Russia and Belarus in a show of solidarity with Ukraine and a sharp crackdown on military aggression by Russia.

The decision of Rimi Baltic means that from now on goods manufactured in Russia and Belarus will be removed from the assortment in almost 300 Rimi stores in Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia, as well as their import from international distributors will be stopped.

Rimi Baltic is currently informing suppliers of this decision, and the removal of Russian and Belarusian products from store shelves has begun.

“However, the decision to suspend trade in Russian and Belarusian products is a symbolic step with a clear message: we are opposed to military aggression and show solidarity with the Ukrainians among our customers and employees,” emphasizes Turlais.

It has already been reported that Rimi Latvia had a turnover of 946.508 million euros in 2020, which is 3.2% more than a year earlier, but the company’s profit decreased by 8.3% to 30.409 million euros.
