* UNEME DEDICAM invites women to attend their breast cancer studies free of charge for timely detection
Culiacán, Sinaloa; The Ministry of Health of Sinaloa has an action program for the prevention and control of breast cancer and the main objective has been to reduce mortality from this neoplasm in Mexican women, and in our state of Sinaloa, reported Dr. Lilian Cazares Rojo, Director of UNEME DEDICAM.
He explained that, to achieve this objective, operational strategies have been established in which the timely detection through mammography screening and diagnostic evaluation of suspected cases by diagnostic mammography stand out, studies that are offered free of charge in the Specialized Medical Unit for Detection and Diagnosis of Breast Cancer.
“If you are a woman between 40 and 69 years of age who requires and has not checked your breasts for a year, then do not hesitate to go, we have a schedule from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., even with the pandemic we have all hygiene care we have a security protocol, both the staff is prepared to assist you in the best conditions in the permanent sanitation of the equipment so that they do not fear to come “, he reported.
He recalled that UNEME DEDICAM has trained personnel to care for women and men from Sinaloa, since cancer can also occur in men. He indicated that there is state-of-the-art technology and guidance, as well as emotional accompaniment and follow-up of each of the cases so that the patient successfully concludes her treatment.
He regretted that this scourge continues to be one of the main causes of death in women nationwide, which is why he invited the population to attend their breast revision studies once a year.
Some of the risk factors that could trigger breast cancer are; having had menstruation before the age of 12, never having become pregnant, or having the first pregnancy after the age of 35, a menopause after the age of 50, a family history of any disease of the mammary gland and the use of mainly combined contraceptives .
It should be noted that the warning signs could appear with a lump that they feel under the skin that may or may not generate pain, lumps in the armpits, swollen breast, pain in the nipple, sunken nipple, fluid leaking, red or irritated skin, stretched or orange peel.
