In September, the volume of industrial production in Latvia increased by 5.8% / Article

It was influenced by an increase in production in manufacturing – by 6.7% and in electricity and gas supply – by 0.7%, but a slight decrease in production was in mining and quarrying – by 1.1%.

Compared to September of the previous year, a significant increase in production was in such medium-high-tech sectors as manufacture of chemicals and chemical products – by 39.2%, manufacture of machinery and equipment – by 33.3%, cars, trailers and semi-trailers. in manufacture – by 28.8% and in manufacture of other transport equipment. In September, the production of furniture – by 29.6%, the manufacture of beverages – by 15% and the production of clothing – by 13.6% also continued to show an increase in production. Output increased in all major manufacturing sectors: wood and wood products (up 1.7%), food (0.2%), fabricated metal products, except machinery and equipment (3.7%) ).

In turn, the volume of production decreased in the manufacture of non-metallic mineral products – by 4.4% and in the manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products.

In September 2021, compared to August 2021, according to seasonally adjusted data at constant prices, the volume of industrial production increased by 1.5%, including in electricity and gas supply – by 38.6%, but the decrease was in mining and quarrying – by 4.7%. Manufacturing output, on the other hand, remained at the previous month’s level.

Manufacturing turnover

In September 2021, compared to September 2020, the turnover of manufacturing according to calendar adjusted data at current prices increased by 29.5%. Turnover in the domestic market increased by 23% and in exports – by 32.9%, including in the euro area – by 29.4%, outside the euro area – by 35.5%.

In September 2021, compared to August 2021, according to seasonally adjusted data, the turnover of manufacturing increased by 0.3%. Turnover in the domestic market increased by 2.3%, but in exports the turnover decreased by 0.6%, including outside the euro area – by 3.3%, but in the euro area it increased by 3.3%.
