The names of the candidates were on a list held by Pierre Laran, organizer of the French air guitar championship tour, which stopped at Rock Food in Hossegor on Friday April 22. They were going to have one minute, no more, to show their talent and try to qualify for the final which will take place in Mirande (32), at the beginning of August, then for the world championship, in Oulu, in Finland, at the end of August. “We are not looking for people who are already at the top, but for potential people. The air guitar is a show that conveys a message of peace: if everyone played the air guitar, no one would be able to hold a weapon. There would therefore be no more war, which is sadly topical,” says Pierre Laran very seriously.
Before the competitors started, the 2021 French champion and 2019 world third, French Kiss, gave a demonstration. “You have to be yourself, choose a piece you like and give it your all! It’s a mixed competition, with no age limit, where the goal is to show the guitar and make the sound visual”, he adds, specifying that he does not know how to make a single real chord. Moreover, the world champion wins a great guitar, “which ends in a coffee table”, he laughs. Next stop, in Rouen, on May 7.
