(ANSA) – SAO PAULO, OCTOBER 27 – The mayor of Sao Paulo, Ricardo Nunes, 56 years old, of the Brazilian Democratic Movement (MDB, centrist) defeated the federal deputy Guilherme Boulos in the runoff, with almost 60% of the votes , of the Socialism and Freedom Party (Psol, far left), stopped just above 40% of the preferences. With over 75% of the ballots counted, the result is irreversible according to Datafolha, the polling institute of the Brazilian newspaper Folha de São Paulo. Nunes, who in 2021 from deputy became mayor of the economic-financial capital of Brazil after the death of Bruno Covas, received the support of the governor of Sao Paulo, Tarcísio de Freitas of the Republican party (conservative) and the former president Jair Bolsonaro of the Liberal party (PL, right).
