Born in Lebanon and living in Saint-Lô, Ragaa Moudawi became known five years ago through the Jeunes en scène festival. She had the opportunity to perform in front of an audience, for the music festival and many other events.
Deprived of concerts, because of the Covid-19, the young folk singer has been giving singing lessons to students of the Atelier Musical since mid-March. She already knew the association from having taken guitar lessons there for a few months.
Adapt to each student
The lessons take place by video: “My youngest pupil is 9 years old. But I also have adults. “
The young singer “tries to adapt to each student, to do what they like”.
Dominique Catelin, President for three years of this association which exists since 1992 in Saint-Lô, is delighted with this collaboration:
I’m sure Raggaa has a lot to offer his students with his talent and his stage experience.
For the young singer, it is an exchange: “My students also bring me. “
The musical workshop weakened by the crisis
The association that matters eight teachers this year teaches piano, accordion, guitars, harp, drums, synth, violin, vocals and piano. The teachers are all salaried on permanent contracts.
With the crisis – face-to-face lessons are only possible for underage students – the association knows a difficult period, with only 72 students compared to 96 in 2019:
We lost 25% of our students this year and we no longer have any revenue. The situation is really precarious, the crisis should not go on forever.
The association hopes that the City’s grants will be renewed this year. She also made a request for exceptional grant for the purchase of a harp.
Despite this worrying context, Dominique Catelin remains positive: “I have good hopes of being able to play again soon. Long live the music the world so badly needs! “
Convenient. Registrations are possible during the year. Information on 02 33 56 15 90 or on the Facebook page Atelier Musical Saint Lo.
