In Russia, they are stressed by Western sanctions imposed because of the war. That’s what British intelligence says.
London recalls a recent statement by Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Andrei Rudenko, who called on Ukraine to clear the port of Odessa in order to provide a humanitarian corridor for ships.
Rudenko’s request to the Kyiv authorities is in line with a basic principle of Russia’s current communications strategy: presenting alternative stories, albeit unconvincing, to embarrass the international community.
In this case, Ukraine planted naval mines only because of the continuing real threat of Russian air strikes from the Black Sea, say the British military, quoted by UNIAN.
The island’s intelligence noted that Russia has shown that it is ready to use the global food crisis for its political purposes, and then to present itself as a sensible player and blame the West for all its failures.
Russia’s attempt to ease international sanctions also underscores the stress the sanctions are on the Kremlin regime.
