In Russia, the number of confirmed cases of Covid-19 per day has reached a new record

In Russia, 41,335 people have been confirmed with the new coronavir virus during the day, the highest level since the start of the pandemic, the Covid-19 crisis operative headquarters reported on Saturday.

Most new cases of Covid-19 were registered in Moscow, St. Petersburg and the Moscow region.

The previous maximum – 40,993 infected – was registered on October 31.

The disease caused the virus has claimed 1188 more victims during the day.

Due to the serious epidemiological situation in Russia, a free week has already been reported until 7 November, but several regions, including Novgorod, Tomsk, Chelyabinsk, Kursk and Bryansk, have exercised their right to extend this period by another week.

Meanwhile, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said this week that the situation in the capital has stabilized and the partial “arcade” will be lifted, while maintaining a number of restrictions, including housekeeping for the elderly and the requirement for entrepreneurs to work at least 30 percent remotely.

Officially, more than 8.75 million infections have been reported in Russia since the start of the pandemic, and 245,635 people have died from Covid-19.

According to data published by the government, only cases in which the disease was identified as the leading cause of death at autopsy were included among the victims of Covid-19. Meanwhile, data from the Russian statistical office Rosstat, which also includes Covid-19 as an indirect or unconfirmed cause of death, show that by the end of September, a total of about 462,000 people had died in the country from the disease caused by the new coronavirus.
