In Russia, 20,498 new cases of coronavirus infection were registered in the last day, the operative headquarters set up to combat the pandemic announced on Sunday.

This is the third consecutive day with more than 20,000 new infections. 20,582 new infections were reported on Friday and 20,396 on Saturday.

At the same time, 286 deaths due to Covid-19 were reported in the last 24 hours.

The highest number of infections was registered in Moscow and St. Petersburg, as well as in Moscow, Nizhny Novgorod and Arkhangelsk regions.

The total number of people infected in Russia since the beginning of the pandemic has exceeded 1.77 million, while the number of victims of Covid-19 has reached 30,537. 419,378 patients are currently being treated.
