It was a platoon of sixteen couples of jubilarians who walked through the doors of the wedding hall on Easter Monday to celebrate the greatest of classics: marriage. A race which is done in tandem. It was Frédéric Minard, first deputy mayor, surrounded by other elected officials, who received each of the couples present that day (eight other couples unable to travel will be celebrated at home in the coming days) and presented them with flowers, medal and other small gifts.
As Henri Planckaert, president of the steering committee of the Roubaix festivities but also jubilee for more than 60 years of marriage, pointed out, ” in all, more than 1,330 years of marriage are honored with fourteen golden weddings (50 years of marriage), six diamond weddings (60 years of marriage), two rosewood weddings (65 of marriage) and two platinum weddings (70 years of marriage). And to date there are 75 children, 136 grandchildren and 50 great-grandchildren.. »
The ceremony combined music (Dany Rossi and Pierre Polvèche), honoring and memories and ended with the traditional reception.
