In Rome, a year of free museums for new adults in 2024

(ANSA) – ROME, APRIL 08 – All young people in Rome who have become or will become adults in 2024 will be able to enter the museum system of Rome Capitale free of charge for one year. The Capitoline Council has in fact approved a resolution with which it was decided to give to all those who are residents of Rome and who turn 18 in 2024 the Roma Mic Card, the card that allows free entry into all museums and areas archaeological and monumental buildings managed by the Capitoline Superintendence of Cultural Heritage and which also allows you to obtain concessions and discounts at exhibitions, cafes and museum bookshops. The Capitol makes this known. The Card is aimed at a potential audience of 41 thousand boys and girls and will be valid for 12 months from the moment of activation. In the next few weeks on the website https://miccard.roma.it/ or via the Mic Card app, it will be possible to activate the digital Roma Mic Card by entering the tax code. At the same time, a communication campaign will be launched aimed at 18 year olds, who will also receive a letter from Mayor Roberto Gualtieri containing a QR Code which will guide them in the procedures to follow to obtain the card. The service will soon be made available to the Municipalities of the Metropolitan City of Rome, with the aim of expanding free access to 18 year olds residing in the metropolitan area. The aim of the initiative is to offer the young generations of Rome a new benefit – in line with what has been done with Metrebus under 19 – which encourages them to enjoy the immense cultural heritage of the Capitol, becoming an increasingly active part in the cultural life of the city. “Young people are the future of our city and we are investing in them – comments mayor Roberto Gualtieri -. We are putting them at the center of all our policies: from public transport, where we have launched a free measure for all young people and girls under 19, until the opening of new study rooms. Today, with this new measure, we bring young Romans even closer to culture, guaranteeing the free Mic Card to all of them for an entire year”. “We want to give young people who are approaching adulthood a welcome, offering them a year of totally free and unlimited access to the museum, archaeological and monumental heritage of Rome Capital – said the Capitoline Councilor for Culture Miguel Gotor – to our I think this is an excellent way to promote increasingly widespread access to culture, while at the same time stimulating in our young people a sense of belonging to the community in which they live and which we want them to feel more and more like their own”.
