In response to rocket attacks, Israeli fighter jets bomb Lebanon

TEL AVIV – Jet fighter planes Israel bombard the territory Lebanon south, Thursday (5/8/2021) early morning. It was in retaliation for the barrage of rocket attacks on the territory of the Jewish state.

The fighter jet strikes came just hours after the Israeli military shelled the site in southern Lebanon with artillery fire. A series of rocket attacks from Lebanon were allegedly carried out by the Hezbollah group, Iran’s main ally, on Wednesday afternoon.

There have been no reports of injuries or fatalities in the fighter jet strikes that hit sites in Al-Khiam, Kafr Kila and Alaishiyeh.

A video taken not far from the site of the attack shows Israeli fighter jets roaring over Lebanese airspace and then bombarding several sites.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has confirmed the airstrike. “[IDF] against infrastructure used for terrorism,” the Israeli military said in a statement.

“IDF attacks will continue and even escalate in the face of terrorist attempts against the State of Israel and its citizens,” the statement continued.

“The Lebanese state is responsible for what happens on its territory. The IDF warns of continued efforts to” [tindakan] endanger the Israeli people and its sovereignty.”

On Wednesday afternoon, three rockets were fired from southern Lebanon towards the Israeli villages of Kiryat Shmona, Kfar Giladi and Tel Hai, which lie near the de facto Blue Line border between the two countries.

One of the rockets ignited a bushfire with no casualties reported. In response, the IDF fired three artillery rounds into southern Lebanon.
