in Reims, to beat the world record for viewing a film, he plans to see Kaamelott at the cinema 200 times

The Rémois Arnaud Klein, audiovisual editor and YouTuber, has launched a challenge that is both unusual and titanic: to see the film “Kaamelott: 1st part” 200 times at the cinema. The objective: to beat the world record for the most screenings of the same film in the cinema, held by an American.

Seven weeks and two days, at the rate of 4 sessions per day: this is the time it will take for Arnaud Klein to take up this incredible challenge: to see the film “Kaamelott: 1st part” 200 times at the cinema. A world record that the Rémois intends to steal from the American holder of the title, Ramiro Alanis, who had seen the film “Avengers: Endgame” 191 times in 2019. “Kaamelott is a French film which is a kind of institution, explains the 33-year-old. The second degree is always present, so that one can laugh easily and, at the same time, there is a form of depth which is absolutely admirable. Ultimately, it’s the story of a very intelligent man who tries to raise completely silly people beyond their abilities, it’s the story of a man who tries to make fools better. “ And if in addition, Arnaud Klein could steal the world record from Ramiro Alanis with a film 100% made in France, that would be the icing on the cake.

To go to the end of the challenge, it will be necessary to show abnegation, patience, but also rigor so that the record is well validated by the Guinness Book. Arnaud will therefore religiously keep each cinema ticket that he reserves thanks to his unlimited subscription in a theater in the greater Reims area. But he will go even further, and to prove that he stays well every time sitting in his red chair, he will make live videos of each session on the social network. Twitch. So will he hold on? Won’t weariness show up after 5, 10, 20, 134 sessions? “Yes a little, answers Arnaud Klein, lucid. But this is a performance. If I get bored, I keep my goal in view: to break the world record. And then I’ve been waiting for this theatrical release for 10 years, it’s a film that deserves everything I’m about to do “. There is only one thing that Arnaud Klein is crossing his fingers for, and that is that the cinema does not deprogram the film too quickly, and that the number of daily screenings does not drop too much. “If this is the case, I will go to Paris to find a cinema that programs it more intensively.”

“A project of my own”

The motivation is therefore very present, and it is better, because this little adventure will cost Arnaud Klein a little money, if only for the official approval of his record. So a fundamental question arises: why? Why this repetitive, time-consuming, solitary, even completely crazy bet? For the love of Kaamelott’s universe, of course, but not only. Arnaud Klein is changing his life. After having been a salesman for 6 years in electronics and new technologies, the Rémois decided to quit his job to devote himself to something that really fascinates him: video. He therefore embarked on a film school to become an audiovisual editor. But that was before the pandemic: “With covid, it’s very complicated to get a contract or even meet people. So I decided to do something for myself.” The young man then launched his Youtube channel, with the hope of creating a craze around his videos. “To break into this network, I said to myself: ‘what am I good for?’ Answer: ‘watching movies’. It all started from there. I don’t know at all what will be after.”

Nevertheless, Arnaud Klein does not run after notoriety. What he wants is to please and have fun, with humor and self-mockery as his only line of conduct: “I would like people to say to themselves, watching my videos: “this guy is completely stupid, but why not! He does things, and I find that funny”. I don’t want to have notoriety to have it. I would especially like to build a community of people who say to themselves: “this guy, he does fun stuff and I like it”.

And then, if by a miracle, this somewhat crazy project could reach the ears of Alexandre Astier, creator of Kaameloot and director of the film, and that in addition, the actor finds the idea catchy, Arnaud Klein would be in heaven. ! “Even if it means dreaming, you might as well dream until the end! Can you imagine, if I could do the 200th session with him? It would be crazy!”

Arnaud Klein’s cinematographic marathon will begin on July 20 with two previews of “Kaamelott: 1st part”, screened at the cinema Gaumont Millesime de Thillois, in the Marne.
