On 7 October, Sweden and Finland announced a boycott of boxing tournaments with the participation of Russian athletes. Swedish Boxing Association President Per-Axel Sjöholm called what was happening unacceptable.
On October 5 it became known that the IBA allowed Russian and Belarusian boxers to participate in international competitions under the aegis of the organization. The athletes will perform under the national flags and, in case of victory, the national anthem will be performed.
