In Poland, 4,000 shops went bankrupt in one year

During 2022, around 4,000 stores disappeared from the Polish market, Rzeczpospolita reports.

According to the Polish branch of the American company Dun & Bradstreet, which specializes in cataloging and analyzing information on business entities, the main reasons for the downfall include high inflation and the associated sharp rise in costs, as well as competition from online stores and large chain supermarkets.

“During the year, around 4,000 shops disappeared from the Polish market. It could get even worse in the coming months,” a Dun & Bradstreet spokesman told the newspaper. Tomas Starzyk.

Rzeczpospolita specifies that grocery stores disappear faster. In turn, the Polish shop owners told the Money.pl portal:

“Food industries consume a lot of electricity. Refrigerators, freezers, lighting – just a lot. Prices have increased eight times. If nothing changes, the small shops will go bankrupt.”
