Highlands, Scotland: While the Scottish Highlands continue to offer epic settings with winding valleys, lochs, and rivers, the landscape here has changed a lot. In the old days, the valleys and hills were covered with forests and wild animals. However, over the centuries, logging and overgrazing have changed the local scene. Currently, the Highlands region is undergoing a renaturation process that aims to recover the original bucolic landscape with native fauna and flora.
