Playing the smuggler of memories that day, the guide is called Gaston Mai. For 31 years he served as electromechanical at the bottom of the Wendel tile mine, in Petite-Rosselle (Moselle). For an hour and a half this Wednesday in December, Gaston leads a small group of about ten people into the “Wendel Mine”, the museum located in the heart of the former coal mining site.

Its visitors are called Anis, Safia, Ruben or Guillaume, etc. All born well after the end of the exploitation of the mine in the 90s. On Wednesdays of the Christmas holidays, the museum organizes tours especially for childrento pass on a little of the mining tradition of the Mosel-East to them.

In turn, Gaston introduces them to the professions of blaster, surveyor and his own trade in front of the famous Electra 2000 clipper, holder of the world record for cutting coal with 20,000 tons in one day (listen below) at the Houve mine in Creutzwald.
