For breeders and owners of horses in the Orne, the black series continues. On the morning of Sunday, November 22, 2020, a mare was found dead in her meadow, in Gouffern-en-Auge, on the territory of the delegated municipality of Villebadin. His corpse was mutilated, “With wounds which do not deceive as regards the will of their authors”, indicates Mayor Philippe Toussaint.
The gendarmes opened an investigation supervised by the prosecution from Argentan. The facts probably took place on the night of Saturday to Sunday, “Because we cannot imagine the perpetrator (s) acting like this in broad daylight when it is a place where horse breeders pass every day”, adds the mayor. The corpse was autopsied to determine the causes of the filly’s death.
Second case in a weekend
The same weekend, another body of a mutilated mare was found in the Orne, in the town of Perche-en-Nocé. Here too, human intervention does not do everything, according to the prosecutor of the Republic of Alençon.
In Orne This is at least the third case of a horse found dead and mutilated, after the one found on October 28 in a pasture in Héloup, near from Alençon. Not to mention other attacks – not fatal – committed at the end of August and mid-September, near Mêle-sur-Sarthe and Sées.
