In Oristano a committee to defend the right to health: a boom in membership
The initiative promoted by three professionals after countless protests for cuts in the health sector
A committee for the defense of the right to health is born in Oristano. Gisella Masala, a dentist, promoted its constitution; Maria Carmela Marras, orthopedic doctor, and Simonetta Casu, teacher, all three from Oristano. The aims of the committee are well explained on the page of the Facebook group “Committee for the right to health of the Province of Oristano”: “Art. 32 of the Constitution protects health as a fundamental right of the individual and guarantees “free” care to the indigent.
The Committee for the right to health was born from the awareness of the serious health situation of Oristano and the province. For some time now, this inalienable right has been denied by unscrupulous politics. In recent years, the hospitals in the Oristano area have been so weakened in their staff that the citizen / patient cannot be adequately assisted. The same thing can be said for territorial medicine (basic medicine, outpatient specialist, local ASSL services…).
It is clear that this policy aims to divert financial and human resources to other realities, both public and private ”.
Hence the appeal to “all citizens to give their concrete support to a difficult but vital battle”.
An invitation already received by over 3000 members of the Facebook group in a single day, including various health workers, trade unionists, representatives of sick associations, local administrators.
But to demonstrate a convinced adhesion to the Facebook group of the committee are above all many citizens, some of whom tell the exasperation and the long waits to obtain for the booking of a medical examination or an examination. Complaints that signal the serious and already known shortcomings of the Oristano health services, from which the committee intends to start to promote some protests with the citizens.
Meanwhile, a delegation of the newborn Committee took part this morning in the motorcade promoted on 131 by the Citizens’ Committee for the defense of the Delogu du Ghilarza hospital.
