By ambitiously applying to the world film industry, Latvia has completed work on an ambitious film project – the horror thriller “Warhunt”. The film has brought such Hollywood stars as Mickey Rurk and Robert Kneper to the shooting scene in Latvia, along with whom domestic actors have also proved their professionalism. Actors Rihards Lepers, Dainis Grūbe and Ieva Segliņa share their experience of participating in world-class films.
Work on the film “Warhunt” has been completed, where the filming space was shared by world-class film stars with a domestic actor, as well as the successful collaboration was demonstrated by the world film industry director Mauro Borelli and the film production company “Forma Pro Films”. For Latvian actors Ieva Segliņa, Rihards Lepers and Dainis Grūbs, this is not the first time in a foreign film project, but it is definitely one of the rare opportunities to work with stars of this world caliber.
Commenting on the progress of the film, the actors unanimously praise the work of the Latvian film production company, appreciate the professionalism of foreign colleagues and are grateful for the opportunity to work on a project of this scale.
Comparing the work of world celebrities and local cinema representatives, actor Richard Leper reveals that there is no difference between those who have a high level of respect for work and team.
”The Latvian film production company has unequivocally raised the bar of Latvian cinema to the level of Hollywood.
As for my brothers-in-law, of course, the actor’s professional training is important, but the actor’s attitude towards work, despite the fame he has gained, also testifies to his professionalism.

In this respect, the actor Robert Knepers, with whom he has established a successful collaboration in the filming area, proved himself perfectly on the stage.
Leper also points out that the shooting of “Warhunt” was an unprecedented experience for all involved, because during the shooting of the film, a pandemic started in the world, which changed the usual work process.

Actor Dainis Grūbe says that he has enjoyed the process of making the film, because the theme of war is one of his favorite themes. The night shifts and sleepless hours of the movie “Warhunt” have helped Grūbe get into the image and feel on his skin a little bit of what the soldiers may have experienced during the war. The most significant difference in the process of filming compared to previous film projects is the professional approach – the work of the filmmakers is concrete and purposeful.-
“In terms of professional training, our actors do not lag behind the big Hollywood stars. My foreign colleagues were surprised that I was playing eight or nine more roles in the theater at the same time as filming Warhunt, which allows me to maintain good actor training. However, “Warhunt” is definitely a good record in my portfolio, because the biggest benefit is the opportunity to be by the side of experienced actors and watch their work process.
Once again, I made sure that a good actor remains human in all circumstances. Mickey Ruck and Jackson Retbooun always came on the field prepared, but what struck me most was Robert Knepper’s humanity, lively interest and ability to communicate with colleagues, as well as his work culture and abilities.
Roberts asked me about Latvia and my origin, wanted to know what is worth seeing in this country. A good connection was also established with many other actors, with whom I still have contacts today, ”says Grūbe.

For actress Ieva Segliņa, participation in such a large-scale film project is also a bright and invaluable experience.
This was an extremely interesting and intense learning process. The most important thing for me was to be on this team and watch what was happening, thus gaining new knowledge. This role required me to be able to concentrate and maintain this necessary tension in order to be ready to play exactly what is needed at any time.
When working with Forma Pro Films, I always feel a professional approach in all departments and I can afford to think only about my work, because I know that everything else will always be at the highest level, ”says Segliņa.
Two years ago, Jānis Timms, a Latvian entrepreneur and the head of the crowd investment platform Crowdestor, was approached to get involved in a “non-standard” investment project and invest in Hollywood-level cinema. One of Timma, with whose company Crowdestor invested 1.7 million euros in the film, had the main focus on filming in Latvia and involving both local and foreign film experts in filming, enabling Latvia to make a name for itself in the world.
