In total, 1,619 patients with a proven covid-19 infection have died so far since the outbreak of a pandemic in the Czech Republic. In the last week, their number has been growing by at least ten new cases every day.

The pandemic in the Czech Republic is still failing to get under control, despite the stricter hygiene measures introduced by the government in the last two weeks. Currently, there are 113,219 infected in the Czech Republic, and over 4,000 people have had to be hospitalized due to complications.

The proportion of infected people from the total number tested is also increasing. From Friday, October 9, to Monday, October 19, the proportion of positive tests, with one exception, always exceeded 25 percent. It never happened once before this period.

The number of infected people in the Zlín region is now increasing the most. In the last seven days, there have been about 881 new cases of covid-19 per 100,000 inhabitants. The second most significant increase was recorded in the district of Prostějov, more than 770. Over 700 cases per 100,000 inhabitants were detected by laboratories in the districts of Plzeň, Plzeň-sever, Plzeň-jih and Uherské Hradiště.

In the Czech Republic, from Wednesday midnight, the obligation to wear veils outside in the municipalities applies if a person is closer than two meters to another. Exceptions are members of one household or people playing sports.

Veils are mandatory in the car again, unless you drive alone or with members of your household. At the same time, people must have their mouths and noses covered in all interiors of buildings except households or accommodation, as well as in cars and on public transport platforms.
