In the fourth quarter of 2023 the average gross monthly salary in Bulgaria it is BGN 2123. It increased compared to the third quarter of 2023 by 6.2%.
The economic activities in which the largest increase was registered were “Education” – by 16.1%, “Human health care and social work” – by 8.3%, and “Real estate operations” – by 7.4%.
Compared to the fourth quarter of 2022, the average monthly salary in the country increased by
13.0%, with the largest increase in economic activities: “Construction” – by 21.3%,
“Hotel and restaurant industry” – with 19.9%, and “Transport, warehousing and post” – with 17.2%.
In “Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries”, the average gross salary in the fourth quarter of 2023 is more than BGN 600 (BGN 663) lower than the average in the country. In the third quarter, it was BGN 1,511, and in the fourth quarter of 2022, the salary in this economic activity was BGN 1,384. There is lower pay only in the activities in Restaurant and hotel management’, as well as in ‘Others’.
The economic activities with the highest average monthly remuneration of the employed
persons under employment and service legal relationship for the period are: “Creation and distribution of information and creative products; telecommunications” – BGN 4,852; “Production and distribution of electric and thermal energy and gaseous fuels” – BGN 3,278; “Financial and insurance activities” – BGN 3,086.
Compared to the same period of the previous year, the average monthly salary in
the fourth quarter of 2023 in the public sector grew by 14.0%, and in the private sector – by 12.7%.
